Australian Labradoodle Association of AMERICA Registry
Never before in the history of dog breeding has there been a new breed which has catapaulted to the top of the popularity ladder as the Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle is currently doing.
Historically, by the time a new breed has reached significant numbers, it has already been accepted by the traditional Kennel Clubs which then take care that no
duplicity in names will occur.
The Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle is not yet ready for breed recognition and this leaves it in a very vulnerable position. It is vital that the rapidly increasing numbers of new
Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle breeders who are emerging, have access to a central registry when doing their due diligence, so as to research the pedigrees of breeding stock in the
interests of avoiding the inbreeding or careless breeding which would ultimately lead to the ruination of the Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle as a breed.
Fragmented organisations springing up all over a country, and all over the world, each with its own set of guidelines and registries, are setting the scene for
future chaos.
The Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle is rocketing in popularity so rapidly that many individuals fear for its future health status if centralised records are not kept and made
transparently available to breeders on the international breeding scene. Duplications are bound to occur which could result in total confusion in years to come. An
example of duplication -
Breeder prefixes (the word each breeder uses in front of the dogs' registered name/s) which would mean that there could be for instance several
different breeders with the same kennel name, each registered with a separate and different Association Registry.
Let's call this kennel name "XYZ Labradoodles". Over time there could be several registered breeders called "XYZ Labradoodles which
would result in multiple dogs with the same name, ie "XYZ Toby"
The ALAA seeks to collaborate with other existing organisations in order to set up a central register for the Labradoodle and Australian Labradoodle. An independent registry at
arms' length and with no known connection to any breeder.
Transparent Information
The ALAA also seeks to provide, in collaboration with other organisations, a central database online. This will provide a place for not only breeders to do
their research, but for those people searching for a breeder, to be able to discover with a click of their mouse, the DNA profling of breeding stock belonging to any r
egistered accredited breeder, as well as the health status and testing results of the dogs owned by those breeders.
Although testing and DNA profling may not be mandatory, the market place will set its own standards and puppy adoptees will ultimately have the ability to
select the breeders who are submitting their test results for publication.
