Officer and Committee Background Information

Ken Fischer, General Manager of the ILA Board of Directors (North America)

Ken Fischer and his family reside in Cincinnati, Ohio, and have been involved with the Labradoodle breed since 2000. Ken owns and operates several industrial manufacturing and distribution businesses in addition to running the Poodle-Mix Rescue website (www.poomixrescue.com) and his responsibilities with the ILA.

He, his wife, and two young daughters, are also involved with the local Cincinnati chapter of Therapy Dogs International along with their four TDI Labradoodles, Aussie, Valentine, Lettie, and Cheers. His background with the Labradoodle community includes past Newsletter Editor for the LAA in 2003, as well as Newsletter Editor, Quality Manager, and Vice President of the ILA since early 2004.

Dixie Moore, Secretary (North America)

A native Texan, Dixie resides in Central Texas near Austin. She has two daughters, Joel and Jessica, and a grandson, Dakota, age 5. Both girls attend college and help out with Doodle-sitting when needed. Dixie’s family also includes F1, F1B, and multigen Labradoodles named Buttercup, Cayenne, Reba, Mudgee and Matilda, along with Chewbacca the Poodle and Brodie the Border Terrier. When Dixie is not at home with her family, she works as a Project Analyst for a major computer manufacturer.

Dixie has been a dog lover all of her life. When she discovered Labradoodles several years ago, she was immediately smitten. She has been Secretary of the ILA since April of 2004, and has met many wonderful new friends whose hearts have been captured by these very special furry creatures.

Natalie Woods, Registrar (North America)

Natalie Woods lives in Cedar Park, Texas with her husband, Randy, and their five children. The couple moved to Austin from Arizona in 1991, in time for their oldest child, Holly, to be born. The family lived for several years in Tokyo, Japan, where daughter Andrea was born. They returned to the Austin area once again in 1995, and had three boys, Calvin, Roger and Henry. The entire family loves their Labradoodle Trixie and are excited for her to start her breeding career in Fall 2005.

Natalie stays busy as a stay-at-home mom and moonlights at the local community college teaching math. Natalie and Randy are both enthusiastic Labradoodle and ILA supporters. Randy custom designed and built the ILA's online dog registry and administrative system. They hope that this online dog registry will prove to be an invaluable resource to all those who love and care for this fabulous breed.

Butch Charlton, Treasurer (North America)

Butch Charlton has been involved since 2001 when he purchased his first Labradoodle from Australia. Within six months he found himself on a flight to Australia to really investigate the breed.

Since then he started his kennel, retired from the high tech world where he was a Chief Technology Officer for a major telecom corporation, worked on his golf game and concentrated on breeding quality Labradoodles. He is the proud owner of eight Labradoodles and truly loves being involved with the advancement of the breed in N. America.

Patty Barnes, Quality Assurance Mgr. (North America)

Smiling, Patty describes herself as, "a stay-at- home puppy mom." She adds, "My husband Peter and I disengaged ourselves from intense business lives on Cape Cod and moved to Maine for a more simple, humble life. This new life means sharing our home, pine forest and view of the mountains with seven dogs. We couldn’t be happier."

Prior to moving to Maine, Patty owned and operated three retail stores on Cape Cod: a bookstore, a children’s clothing store and a gift shop. Patty was a psychotherapist before her ten years in retail. She authored the international bestseller, A Workbook for Healing Adult Children of Alcoholics. She is the mother of two and the grandmother of three.

On the Executive Committee, Patty dedicates herself to the betterment of the Labradoodle. "I feel a responsibility to guard and further the health and character of this exceptional breed. They delight us, may we protect them."

Linda Layman, Public Relations Manager (North America)

Linda & Tom Layman live outside Wichita Kansas on 5 acres. They have 2 grown daughters and 6 Grandchildren. After working in the Aircraft and Trucking Industry for many years Linda says she was ready for a more quiet life, so she decided to stay at home and concentrate on raising her dogs.

Linda says the best thing about raising and having dogs is they "Love You Unconditionally." Linda has worked with several of her dogs in Obedience & Agility Training, and currently has "Gracielou" her Yellow Lab that is also a Therapy Dog and Canine Good Citizen Gracie goes with Linda to local Nursing Homes and also during the School year goes once a week to School with Paula, Linda's oldest Daughter. She is working with Dexter her chocolate F1 Labradoodle in obedience and hopes to make him a Therapy Dog as well.

Right now they are raising and breeding F1's with F1B's in the very near future, they will continue with Multi Gens in their breeding program

Krista Waitz, IT manager (North America)
